Lahore High Court Grants Time to Special Prosecutor in Ijaz Chaudhry’s 10-Year Sentence Appeal

Lahore: The **Lahore High Court (LHC)** has granted additional time to the **Special Prosecutor** to prepare for the hearing of **PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry’s appeal** against his **10-year prison sentence**.
A two-member bench comprising **Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi** and **Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa** heard the case. Special Prosecutor **Akram Bhatti** appeared before the court and requested more time, stating that the **case file was only received a day earlier**.
The court had summoned the **case record and the counsels for arguments**. Ijaz Chaudhry was sentenced to **10 years in prison by a trial court** in connection with the **Shadman police station arson and vandalism cases**, among others.
Meanwhile, the LHC also heard **appeals filed by 51 convicts** against their sentences in the **May 9 riots cases**. The bench, headed by **Justice Shahbaz Rizvi**, granted time to the Special Prosecutor to prepare arguments.
Defense counsels, including **Advocate Aftab Bajwa**, appeared on behalf of the convicts. The petitions argued that the **Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC)** had handed down sentences under various charges, while the **main accused had already been tried and sentenced to two years imprisonment by military courts**, which they have since served.
The High Court has **summoned the Special Prosecutor and defense lawyers for detailed arguments** at the next hearing.
