The Economist Magazine Honors General Asim Munir for Efforts in Pakistan-U.S. Relations

Lahore: The British magazine *The Economist* has praised Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, for his efforts in strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations. In an article, the magazine highlighted Munir’s diplomatic role, especially his efforts in improving ties with the United States.
According to the report, General Asim Munir’s meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump marked the beginning of a significant diplomatic shift. Trump had previously imposed a 25% tariff on India, calling its economy “dead,” while only imposing a 19% tariff on Pakistan.
The article further mentioned that the U.S. is working on restoring military and counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan, signaling a major shift in American foreign policy. U.S. officials have acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in combating ISIS, and discussions are underway regarding the provision of armored vehicles and night vision equipment to Pakistan. American policymakers are also reviewing India’s destabilizing activities, and global diplomats and investors are now engaging directly with Field Marshal Asim Munir.
