3-Year-Old Ibrahim’s Body Recovered by Young Waste Collector in Karachi’s Nipa Chowrangi Tragedy

**Karachi:** The body of three-year-old Ibrahim, who tragically fell into an open manhole near Nipa Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, was recovered by a young waste collector named Tanveer.

According to reports, a couple from Shah Faisal brought their son Ibrahim to a private mart near Nipa Chowrangi for shopping. As they exited the mart, Ibrahim slipped from his mother’s hand and ran toward his father’s motorcycle, falling into the open manhole.

Immediately after the incident, a heart-wrenching video of the child’s mother, Ayesha, pleading for help and searching for her son, went viral. Government machinery traditionally arrived hours later, prompting onlookers and the parents to pool money and hire a loader to begin the excavation.

After a prolonged 15-hour rescue operation, Ibrahim’s body was recovered—not by costly machinery or trained volunteers, but by Tanveer, the young waste collector. Speaking to the media at the scene, Tanveer said he spotted the body in a nearby drain by a private university and handed it over to the authorities.

Eyewitnesses revealed that after the body was found, police reportedly mistreated Tanveer, while rescue volunteers prioritized showcasing their organization. Following public outrage, the DSP of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town summoned Tanveer, praised his efforts, and issued an apology for the conduct of the officials.
