Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Receives Warm Welcome on First Official Visit to Pakistan, Pays Tribute at Iqbal’s Mausoleum

Lahore – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit, marking his first international trip since taking office. He was warmly received in Lahore by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz upon his arrival, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The Allama Iqbal International Airport was adorned with Pakistani and Iranian flags, and a red carpet reception was organized in honor of the visiting dignitary.
During his visit, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold important meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The primary objective of the visit is to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Speaking to Iranian media before his departure, President Pezeshkian emphasized that boosting bilateral trade and economic ties was a key focus of his visit. He also highlighted the importance of border security and regional peace, expressing hope that enhanced collaboration could lead to the development of border markets and new economic opportunities.
President Pezeshkian expressed a strong desire to increase trade between the two nations to \$10 billion. He also conveyed Iran’s keen interest in actively participating in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, noting that it could help connect Iran to Europe through enhanced regional infrastructure.
Reaffirming his commitment to Islamic unity, President Pezeshkian stated that any attempts to undermine the Pakistan-Iran alliance would be thwarted, and that the relationship between the two countries would continue to grow stronger and more enduring.
As part of his visit, the Iranian President paid homage at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. He was accompanied by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz and other provincial ministers. President Pezeshkian offered prayers, laid a floral wreath, and wrote his impressions in the visitors’ book.
