Governor Balochistan Discusses Bilateral Relations and Development Issues with Dutch Ambassador

Quetta:The Governor of Balochistan, Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel, met with Mrs. Henny de Vries, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan. During the meeting, discussions centered on the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands, as well as political and economic changes in the region and other matters of mutual interest. Both leaders agreed that there are significant opportunities to expand cooperation in various new sectors between the two countries.

Governor Mandokhel highlighted the worsening situation of groundwater levels in Balochistan, stressing the urgent need for the construction of dams across various districts to raise the water table. He further noted that a large portion of Pakistan’s population consists of youth, which is a positive development, but providing education and employment opportunities remains a significant challenge.

Mandokhel stated that the future of Pakistan is tied to Balochistan, and improvements in law and order in the region are evident. He emphasized the importance of not only focusing on education but also equipping the youth with modern skills. As part of this vision, he announced plans to enhance the functioning of technical and vocational institutions across the province and introduce IT courses at the 11 public sector universities.

The Governor also pointed out that agriculture is a key sector for the province’s large population, and investing in solar energy could effectively address the energy shortage in Balochistan. He concluded by highlighting that international guidance and support from developed countries and institutions will be instrumental in advancing education and promoting quality education for the province’s youth.

At the end of the meeting, both the Governor of Balochistan and the Dutch Ambassador exchanged commemorative shields as a token of their ongoing cooperation.
