Possible Rs1.75 Per Unit Reduction in Electricity Prices Across Pakistan

Lahore: A potential reduction of Rs1.75 per unit in electricity prices is expected for consumers across Pakistan. According to a report by private news channel Express News, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a petition for a quarterly adjustment.
The petition pertains to the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25. If approved, consumers could receive a relief of over Rs53.39 billion. The quarterly adjustment will apply to all government-run distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is scheduled to hold a hearing on the CPPA’s request on August 4. If the adjustment is approved for the months of September, October, and November, the relief could increase to Rs2.10 per unit. NEPRA will make the final decision on the tariff changes after the hearing.
