Peshawar High Court Suspends Arrest Warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur in Liquor Recovery Case

The Peshawar High Court has suspended the arrest warrants issued by an Islamabad court against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a liquor recovery case, directing the police to refrain from arresting him.
On Monday, a two-judge bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Dr. Khurshid Iqbal heard the petition filed by Gandapur, seeking suspension of the arrest warrants. The court annulled the arrest orders and instructed the Chief Minister to appear before the relevant court.
Gandapur’s lawyer argued that the Islamabad court had initially ordered his client’s arrest by July 21, but the warrant was issued after the specified date. The lawyer further asserted that Ali Amin Gandapur had always appeared in courts when required and was willing to do so again.
It is worth noting that earlier this week, the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad had issued arrest warrants against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister in connection with a case involving the recovery of liquor and firearms.
The Peshawar High Court’s decision temporarily halts the execution of the arrest warrants, granting Gandapur time to appear in court as directed.
