Wreckage of Missing Russian Passenger Plane Found, All 49 Feared Dead

Moscow: The wreckage of a missing Antonov An-24 passenger aircraft has been found in Russia’s eastern region, with all 49 people on board feared dead. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the burning remains of the plane were spotted by a Mi-8 helicopter during an aerial search.
In a statement posted on Thursday via its official Telegram channel, the ministry said that a helicopter from Russia’s Civil Aviation Authority, Rosaviatsiya, located the wreckage of the aircraft engulfed in flames.
The twin-engine Antonov An-24 was operated by Angara Airlines and disappeared from radar while en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda. The Governor of Amur Region, Vasily Orlov, confirmed the incident.
Rescue teams involved in the aerial surveillance reported that there were no visible signs of survivors at the crash site.
The Amur Region’s Civil Defense Agency stated that rescue operations are underway. So far, 25 rescue personnel and 5 emergency vehicles have been dispatched to the site, with 4 aircraft on standby for additional support.
While authorities hope to gather more information upon reaching the crash site, initial reports suggest that all on board may have perished in the tragic accident.
