PUC Condemns Parents’ Statement in Balochistan Woman’s Murder Case as Un-Islamic and Unconstitutional

Islamabad:The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has strongly condemned the statement issued by the parents of a woman recently murdered in Balochistan, calling it contrary to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, as well as against the Constitution and laws of Pakistan. The council stated that the nature of the statement suggests that the murder may have occurred with the consent of the parents, which is both alarming and condemnable.
In a joint statement, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Secretary General of the International Tahaffuz Harmain Sharifain Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, along with religious scholars including Maulana Hafiz Maqbool Ahmed, Allama Tahir Al-Hassan, Maulana Muhammad Shafi Qasmi, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Maulana Tahir Aqeel Awan, Maulana Muhammad Ashfaq Pitafi, Maulana Muhammad Aslam Siddiqui, Maulana Aziz Akbar Qasmi, and Maulana Mubashir Rahimi, emphasized that it is the duty of the State of Pakistan, law enforcement agencies, the Government of Balochistan, and the judiciary to take action not only against the perpetrators but also against their facilitators.
They rejected the parents’ statement in its entirety, asserting that it violates the clear directives of Islamic law, which mandates punishment for anyone involved in an act of injustice — even if they are close relatives.
“The parents’ statement reveals that their consent may have played a role in the killing of the woman, which is deeply regrettable and must be thoroughly investigated,” the council said. “Islamic teachings do not allow any justification for honor killings or acts of personal vengeance, and those involved must be brought to justice.”
The religious leaders urged the authorities to leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice and warned against any negligence in the investigation or prosecution of this case. They reiterated that the protection of human life is a sacred duty in Islam and enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.
