Delay in Local Body Elections Reflects Government Panic, Hazaras’ Party Says

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) – The **Hazara Democratic Party (HDP)** has criticized the provincial government’s request to postpone the local body elections, calling it a sign of panic and fear of defeat. The party stated that all genuine political parties in Balochistan are fully prepared for the elections and are actively conducting public outreach campaigns, while the **Provincial Election Commission** has confirmed that its preparations are complete.
HDP argued that the **Chief Minister’s request for postponement** indicates three key points:
1. The provincial government is aware of the likely election results and the public’s anger.
2. By citing law and order concerns, the government is acknowledging its own failure.
3. The government understands that post-election, ongoing corruption and mismanagement in Quetta and the province cannot continue.
The party emphasized that the **High Court has directed the holding of local body elections in Quetta**, and it is the government’s duty to ensure their implementation. HDP warned that if the provincial government avoids this responsibility, it loses any **moral justification to continue ruling the province**.
HDP concluded by demanding that the government **hold Quetta’s local body elections without further delay**, ensuring the democratic process is upheld.
