Pakistan-Bangladesh T20 Series Media Rights Sold Amid Low Bidding Response

Dhaka – In a relief for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the media rights for the upcoming T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh have been successfully sold, despite an underwhelming response during the bidding process.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the BCB managed to finalize a deal for the worldwide media rights of the three-match T20 series scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24. Initially, the rights were intended to be sold through an open bidding process, but no company met the set floor price of 40 million Bangladeshi Taka. In fact, offers reportedly fell far below even half that amount.
Facing a lack of competitive bids, BCB officials opted to contact potential buyers directly. Despite what were described as “unrealistic” offers from board representatives and limited interest from broadcasters, the board eventually reached a deal that met its revised financial expectations.
The BCB had earlier failed to sell the media rights for its home Test series against New Zealand, raising concerns over declining commercial interest. The successful sale of the Pakistan series rights offers a temporary reprieve for the board, though it highlights the broader challenges facing cricket boards in monetizing bilateral series in a saturated market.
The upcoming Pakistan vs. Bangladesh T20I series is expected to draw significant regional attention, with matches slated for July 20, 22, and 24.
