Illegal Hunting of Suleimani Markhor: Four Arrested in Balochistan’s Wildlife Crackdown

News Report:Quetta: The Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department has successfully arrested two individuals and registered a case against four others involved in the illegal hunting of the rare Suleimani Markhor, a wild goat species found in the region. The incident took place near the Taktu National Park on the outskirts of Quetta.
According to the officials, the department received intelligence reports about individuals trapping and illegally hunting the Suleimani Markhor, which is considered a national heritage and a rare species. The suspects were reportedly targeting the endangered wildlife in the Taktu National Park and surrounding mountain areas.
Upon receiving this information, authorities conducted a swift operation and filed a case against the four individuals involved. The suspects, who were also found to have been threatening the department’s staff, have been identified as government employees: Rozi Khan, Kaleem Ullah, Saif Ullah, and Gohar Khan.
Two of the suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining two. Additionally, departmental proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals.
The Suleimani Markhor, known for its distinctive twisted horns, is found in the mountainous regions of Balochistan, particularly in Taktu National Park and nearby areas. The animal holds significant ecological and cultural value, making its conservation a priority for local and national wildlife protection authorities.
The arrest and investigation into this illegal hunting case highlight the increasing efforts of the Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department to combat wildlife crime and protect endangered species from poaching.
