Federal Government Decides to Publicly Disclose Assets of Civil Servants in Grades 17 and Above

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to publicly disclose the assets of civil servants in grades 17 and above. According to media reports, this decision has been made in response to a demand from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which had made it a key condition.
The Gazette notification for the Civil Servants (Amendment) Act 2025 has been issued after receiving approval from President Dr. Arif Alvi. Following the amendment to the Civil Servants Act of 1973, details of the assets of government officers will now be made public through the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The notification stipulates that government officials will also be required to disclose the assets of their family members, including both domestic and foreign assets, as well as their financial status. Officials will have to file their assets digitally, ensuring the confidentiality of any personal information. The aim is to enhance transparency while safeguarding the privacy of individuals.
