Balochistan CM Vows No Shortage of Essential Supplies in Border Areas Amid Iran Conflict

Quetta:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has assured that there will be no shortage of fuel, food, or other essential supplies in the province’s border districts adjoining Iran, despite the ongoing conflict in the neighboring country. Speaking to reporters after a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Bugti emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring stability and security in the region.
The Chief Minister refrained from commenting on recent remarks by senior politician Jan Jamali, stating, *”He is our senior, and I respect his opinion.”* He further clarified that the government believes in the rule of law and the constitutional process. *”The assembly has the right to legislate, and it is the judiciary’s role to interpret laws. If any law is found unconstitutional, the courts can rectify it,”* he said.
Addressing concerns over criticism of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Bugti maintained that the law is essential for resolving issues related to missing persons and law and order in the province. *”Our job is to make laws; it’s up to others to critique and to the courts to interpret,”* he added.
On the budget, he stated that it is up to the elected representatives in the assembly to approve or reject it, emphasizing the democratic process.
Bugti also highlighted the province’s battle against extremism, blaming a “RAW-funded militia” for escalating unrest. He announced that security reforms are underway, including converting “B Areas” into “A Areas” to ensure better governance and law enforcement.
In a major administrative move, he revealed that 832 posts at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat have been eliminated in an effort to reduce non-development expenditure and redirect resources toward public welfare and youth initiatives.
Referring to the situation in Iran and its impact on cross-border trade, the Chief Minister reiterated the importance of energy self-reliance and vowed that the government would not allow any shortages of essential commodities in border regions.
