CM Sarfraz Bugti Chairs High-Level Meeting on Health Reforms in Balochistan

QUETTA:A high-level meeting on the health sector was held in Quetta on Monday under the chairmanship of **Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti**, where ongoing healthcare projects, provision of basic medical facilities, and implementation of digital reforms were thoroughly reviewed.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed on major health infrastructure projects, including the **upcoming state-of-the-art Cardiology Institute** and **Trauma Centre in Quetta**.

Officials informed that **164 Basic Health Units (BHUs)** across the province have been made operational, providing medical services to over **1.2 million patients annually** in rural and remote areas. Rather than constructing new buildings, existing government structures have been converted into health centers, enabling quicker service delivery while saving time and cost.

All these BHUs have been **fully digitized**, enabling **effective monitoring** and **performance tracking**.

Speaking at the meeting, CM Bugti said:

> “For the first time in Balochistan’s history, practical and impactful digital reforms are being introduced in the healthcare sector. By activating basic health centers, we are ensuring timely and quality medical services at the local level, helping bridge the urban-rural healthcare gap.”

He stressed that the provincial government is not focused on constructing buildings, but on creating a **sustainable and efficient healthcare system**.

> “Real development is not measured by beautiful buildings but by timely service delivery to the people. Providing accessible, quality, and affordable healthcare to every citizen of Balochistan is our top priority,” the CM added.

He further stated that **real change** is being brought about **not through slogans, but through performance**, and that a strong, integrated health system is the foundation of a **self-reliant and prosperous Balochistan**.

The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure that **all health projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe** and become functional for the public as soon as possible.
