UAE Announces Public Holiday on June 27 for Islamic New Year

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as a public holiday for the Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year), granting federal government employees a long weekend.
According to an official announcement, the holiday applies specifically to the public sector, meaning government employees will enjoy a three-day weekend — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — with work resuming on Monday, June 30.
While the announcement pertains only to the public sector, it is widely expected that many private sector organizations will also observe the same day as a holiday, as is often the case with UAE’s national holiday calendar.
This break comes shortly after the Eid al-Adha holidays, offering residents a welcome opportunity for rest, short travel, or staycations.
