Key Suspect in Abduction and Murder of 11-Year-Old Boy in Quetta Arrested, Says CTD

Quetta:In a significant breakthrough, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya and Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind announced the arrest of the main suspect involved in the abduction and brutal murder of 11-year-old Musawir Kakar, the son of a local businessman.

During a press conference, DIG Goraya revealed that the arrested suspect, Basham, is an Afghan national who had recently entered Pakistan and rented a room in Quetta. A video of his confession was also shown, in which he admitted his role in the kidnapping plot and said he had been given a motorcycle to assist in the operation.

Basham named several accomplices involved in the crime, including Yusuf, Rehan, Sher Nasir, Shuja, Salar, and Bukhari. According to the DIG, some of the suspects are linked to the banned militant outfit “Fitna Al-Khawarij,” with confirmed connections in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Yusuf, a resident of Saryab, was killed during an operation in the 13-Mile area, while Rehan Rind was eliminated in another operation in Dasht. However, two suspects remain at large.

DIG Goraya emphasized that the entire nation is grieving the tragic murder of Musawir Kakar and assured that justice will be fully served. The investigation remains open, and further operations are ongoing.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind added that a proscribed group had previously claimed responsibility for the abduction of six young men from Shaban. He assured that the affected families would be kept informed of any developments.

This case has sparked widespread public outrage and renewed calls for stricter security measures to protect children and dismantle terror networks operating in the region.
