“Police Claim Everything Is Done According to Law – Tell Me, Which Law Allows Firing in NEFE?” – Senator Aimal Wali Khan
ISLAMABAD – Central President of the Awami National Party (ANP) and Senator Aimal Wali Khan has strongly criticized police conduct, questioning which law permits open firing in NEFE (Naval and Engineering Establishment) and who authorized the police to declare anyone “liable to be killed.”
Speaking at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, Senator Khan raised serious concerns over extrajudicial killings and fake police encounters. He stated: “The police claim they do everything according to law. Then tell me – which law allows firing in NEFE? Who gave the police the authority to decide that a particular individual is liable to be killed? Every time a suspect is shot, the same scripted story is released.”
He further remarked: “The state is not implementing the decisions of the superior courts. What the CCB and CTD are doing is deeply concerning. We respect the police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and everyone knows how much we support them – but where are the courts in all these matters?”

The ANP chief added: “Under Pakistan’s current system, the courts should simply be shut down. They have been turned into a means of making money. At the grassroots level, every police station and court are colluding. Unfortunately, this terrifying practice is being promoted and even receives public sympathy.”
He demanded that the CTD Punjab and CTD KP disclose how many people have died in encounters over the past year. “Today, the biggest dacoit is the policeman himself, and that’s precisely why he exists – to kill smaller dacoits,” he said.
Senator Khan concluded: “This lawlessness is prevailing across the country. The situation is such that even Supreme Court verdicts are being ignored. Tell me – which law openly permits the police to kill people in NEFE?”
