Paul Stirling Makes History as First Irish Cricketer to Cross 10,000 International Runs

Dublin:Ireland’s captain Paul Stirling etched his name in the record books by becoming the first Irish cricketer to score over 10,000 international runs. The milestone was achieved during the first ODI of the three-match series against the West Indies, held in Dublin on Wednesday.
Ireland delivered a commanding performance, defeating the West Indies by 124 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting first, the hosts posted a formidable total of 303 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Andrew Balbirnie led the scoring with a century (112), supported by Harry Tector’s 56 and Stirling’s solid 54-run contribution.
In response, the West Indies crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 179 runs in the 35th over.
Stirling’s half-century not only anchored Ireland’s innings but also took his total international tally to 10,017 runs — comprising 5,979 in ODIs, 3,656 in T20Is, and 382 in Tests.
With this historic feat, the right-handed batter has set a new benchmark in Irish cricket and solidified his place among the modern greats of the game.
