Seema Haider Ordered to Leave India Amid Tensions Following Pahalgam Incident

Greater Noida: Seema Haider, who crossed over to India with her children for a love marriage, has been ordered to leave the country within three days following aggressive policy measures by the Indian central government in the wake of the Pahalgam incident.
According to India Today, the Indian government has instructed all Pakistani nationals to leave the country by the end of April. Seema Haider, originally from Pakistan, is now facing the brunt of these orders despite her legal representatives arguing that she no longer holds Pakistani citizenship.
Her lawyer, AP Singh, expressed hope that Seema would be allowed to remain in India. He argued that she is married to an Indian citizen, Sachin Meena, lives in Greater Noida, and recently gave birth to a daughter named Bharti Meena. Singh maintained that Seema’s current citizenship is tied to her Indian husband and, therefore, the government’s directive should not apply to her.
He further emphasized that the directive only targets those who still hold Pakistani citizenship. “Seema is living in India and has become part of Indian society. Her case is unique as it is already under investigation by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS),” Singh said.
He added that a petition has also been submitted to the President of India on Seema’s behalf. Seema is currently out on bail and complies with all conditions set by the court, including residing separately from her in-laws in Rabupura, Greater Noida.
According to the lawyer, the birth certificate issued by the Uttar Pradesh government lists her as “Seema Meena” and her husband as Sachin Meena, further proving her integration into Indian society.
Seema Haider allegedly entered India through Nepal from Sindh, Pakistan, despite being married in Pakistan and the mother of four children. She currently lives with her Indian husband in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Following the Pahalgam incident in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government decided to revoke all visas issued to Pakistani nationals. The decision, taken during a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was followed by a Ministry of External Affairs announcement stating that all Pakistani nationals currently in India must leave before their visas expire.
According to the Ministry, the cancellation of visas will take effect on April 27, while medical visas will remain valid only until April 29.
