PTI Leaders Criticize Government, Claim National Security at Risk Under Sharif Family’s Rule

Islamabad: PTI Leaders Demand Immediate Action on National Security and Judicial Reform
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have strongly criticized the current government, with opposition leader Omar Ayub accusing the Sharif family of compromising the nation’s security whenever they come to power. Addressing the media outside the Islamabad High Court, Ayub stated that under the Sharif family’s rule, national security was often put in jeopardy, referencing historical incidents where their leadership failed to act decisively against external threats.
He recalled a 1997 incident when India’s Mig 25 flew over Islamabad, and despite the provocative actions, the government under Nawaz Sharif hesitated to respond. Ayub further alleged that Nawaz Sharif was more focused on negotiating deals rather than taking a hard stance against India’s military actions.
Ayub’s comments were part of a broader critique, as he emphasized the inability of the Sharif family to take strong action against India, given their alleged business ties with the neighboring country. He compared their leadership to that of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, asserting that only Khan had the resolve to take decisive actions for the country’s security.
Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, also weighed in, urging the Prime Minister to take urgent steps to address the national crisis by reaching out to opposition leaders and forming a consensus for the country’s future security and well-being.
PTI’s legal advisor, Babar Awan, presented a five-point agenda calling for immediate judicial reforms, the release of political prisoners, the restoration of media freedom, and the conduction of transparent elections. He condemned the government’s authoritarian actions and the ongoing suppression of political opposition, referring to it as “fascism.”
In a press conference outside the Supreme Court, senior PTI leader Latif Khosa expressed deep concern about the state of the country’s governance. He highlighted how national institutions have been undermined, with orders from military officials overriding those of the courts. He accused the government of mishandling national security issues, including tensions with India over the Indus Waters Treaty.
The PTI leaders also criticized the government’s handling of political prisoners, including Imran Khan, calling for his immediate release. They emphasized that the public remains overwhelmingly supportive of PTI and its leader.
Amid escalating tensions, PTI’s spokesperson, Niaz Allah Neazi, argued that the current government lacks clear policies, particularly on national security, and that any attempt to sideline Imran Khan would be met with public resistance. PTI’s General Secretary, Salman Akram Raja, concluded by calling for an end to the “lawlessness” and urging the government to take swift action for the betterment of the country and its citizens.
With growing unrest in the country, PTI’s leadership remains firm in its stance that only a government led by Imran Khan can restore stability and protect Pakistan’s sovereignty.
