KP Information Adviser Calls Opposition to Amendments in Mines and Minerals Act a Mafia Conspiracy

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Adviser, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, has stated that a mafia is actively trying to undermine the proposed amendments in the Mines and Minerals Act, which aim to advance the provincial government’s reform agenda. He accused these opponents of working to sabotage the progress being made under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Barrister Saif termed the opposition to the proposed amendments as anti-public, emphasizing that Chief Minister Gandapur is determined to free the mines and minerals sector from the clutches of the mafia. He accused the mafia of spreading propaganda against the amendments to achieve their self-serving goals.
The Information Adviser further clarified that the provincial government does not recognize the federal government’s authority, and as such, there is no question of transferring provincial powers to the federal level. “We cannot hand over provincial powers to mandate thieves,” he said, highlighting the government’s strong stance on maintaining provincial autonomy.
Saif also reiterated that the Chief Minister’s position is clear: the mafia will not be allowed to dictate terms in any sector. The proposed amendments are intended to strengthen and make the mines and minerals sector more profitable for the province.
The adviser stressed that the proposed amendments are not a secret matter; they will be presented in the provincial assembly, and the opposition’s input will be sought during the discussion.
