Pakistani Parliament Members Unite in Support of Salary Increase, Opposition Figures Emerge

In Islamabad, members of Parliament have united on the issue of salary increases, with opposition members coming forward to demand higher pay. Members from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sunni Ittehad Council, and independent lawmakers have also signed requests for salary increases.
Prominent political leaders, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) head Mehmood Khan Achakzai, have all expressed support for salary hikes.
Members from various political parties, including PPP, PML-N, JUI-F, and the National Party, have reached a consensus on the need for salary increases. Opposition lawmakers initiated the demand, and the issue gained momentum in the Parliament, with some even criticizing those who had previously deemed salary hikes “unlawful.”
Among the key figures demanding salary increases are Public Accounts Committee Chairman Junaid Akbar, Anwar Taj, Abdul Latif, Shah Ahd Ali, and others including Adil Bazi, Shafqat Abbas, Amjad Ali Khan, Yousaf Khan, and Saleem Rehman.
Lawmakers such as Hamid Hussain, Sher Ali Arbab, Mubeen Arif, and Sohail Sultan have also signed in favor of the salary hike proposal.
