Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Optimistic About Pakistan’s Economic Recovery

Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Mohammad Aurangzeb, has expressed confidence that the country’s economic situation is rapidly improving, emphasizing that now is the right time to address weaknesses.
In an interview with a foreign news agency, he revealed that Pakistan is set to finalize agreements with two banks in the Middle East, under which the country will receive a loan of one billion dollars.
Aurangzeb also stated that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation is scheduled to visit Pakistan in February. During this visit, discussions will take place regarding climate funding, with Pakistan aiming to secure climate funding from the IMF within the next 6 to 9 months.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he highlighted improvements in Pakistan’s GDP and a significant reduction in interest rates.
He acknowledged that the country’s most pressing challenges include the rising population and environmental changes. Pakistan, he noted, is working with the World Bank on several initiatives to address these issues.
Aurangzeb also provided updates on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), mentioning that work on its first phase is ongoing. He stressed that Pakistan offers excellent employment opportunities for youth, and the private sector is playing a pivotal role in job creation across the country.
