“Untouchables” Have Again Proved They Are Above Law and Constitution: Sohail Afridi

HANGU: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has strongly criticised the government and administration over the implementation of a Supreme Court order concerning the medical treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan, alleging that the decision was effectively thrown into the dustbin.
Addressing participants of the PTI’s street movement at Abu Bakr Siddique Chowk in Hangu, Sohail Afridi said the government and administration had “slapped the judiciary in the face” by refusing to implement the decision of three Supreme Court judges regarding Imran Khan’s treatment.
He claimed that the incident had once again demonstrated that the “untouchables” in the country considered themselves above the Constitution and law.
Afridi said that whenever a court, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) or any other institution issued an order against his political opponents, police would arrive within minutes and implementation would follow quickly.
However, he alleged that despite the apex court giving two days for arrangements related to Imran Khan’s medical treatment, the authorities had failed to comply with the order.
Addressing the judiciary, the KP chief minister said that if courts could not bring powerful individuals to justice, they should not have the authority to punish weaker people either.
He said there could not be “two systems” in one country and argued that Imran Khan’s struggle for “real freedom” was aimed at establishing equal application of the law for both the powerful and the weak.
“If the powerful are to be protected, then we are rebels against this oppressive system,” Afridi said.
Speaking about alleged mistreatment of PTI women workers and leaders, the chief minister claimed that Imran Khan’s sisters had been subjected to disrespect and said the government could no longer use the “women card” against the opposition.
Afridi said PTI workers remained deeply committed to Imran Khan and vowed that they would seek accountability for what he described as every tear shed by Khan’s sister.
He further announced that a long march towards Islamabad would be held on September 27, claiming that this time the PTI would bring a gathering of “four million people” to the federal capital.
The statements come amid heightened political tensions over Imran Khan’s medical treatment and the opposition’s planned protest movement.
