All Supreme Court Requirements Fulfilled During Imran Khan’s Medical Examination: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar has said that all requirements set by the Supreme Court were fulfilled during the medical examination of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Atta Tarar said health matters should not be politicised, stressing that this had been the government’s position both today and during the previous PTI government.
He said the government had not adopted any contemptuous attitude following the court’s order regarding Imran Khan and maintained that health-related matters should be kept separate from politics.
The federal minister said the government would proceed with all matters in accordance with the Constitution and law. He added that providing special facilities to any prisoner should not create the impression that they were exempt from the rules applicable to others.
Referring to the government’s review petition, Atta Tarar said it had raised the question of whether the same facilities being sought for Imran Khan were available to every prisoner.
He said the government had also maintained during the PTI’s tenure that anyone could face health issues and that political differences should remain separate from medical matters.
Atta Tarar said the government had neither mocked nor ridiculed Imran Khan’s health condition.
He said the grounds presented in the review petition were before the nation and reiterated that no special concessions would be granted to anyone.
“Our position on health matters has neither changed nor will it change in the future,” he said, adding that equal facilities should be available to every prisoner and there should be no special treatment.
The federal minister said the Supreme Court’s order had been fully implemented and a transparent medical examination had been conducted.
He said Imran Khan’s sister and doctors from Shifa International Hospital were present during the examination and all requirements specified in the Supreme Court’s order had been fulfilled.
Atta Tarar said the medical examination was conducted transparently, while all security and other necessary arrangements had been completed.
He added that the administration had ensured implementation of the Supreme Court’s order in accordance with the Constitution and law, and that all legal requirements had been fulfilled.
