Quetta Residents Fed Up with Prolonged Power Outages and Gas Supply Issues: JUI
QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta leaders have expressed serious concern over prolonged and unannounced power outages, gas supply problems and the deteriorating law and order situation in the provincial capital, saying residents have grown frustrated with the difficulties.
JUI Quetta Emir Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rahman Rafiq, District General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice Emir Maulana Khursheed Ahmed, Chief Patron Mufti Muhammad Rozi Khan, and other party leaders said prolonged electricity outages in Quetta and surrounding areas were severely affecting households, students, traders, industrialists and the business community, particularly amid extreme heat.
They said the shortage and low pressure of gas had also made it difficult for citizens to meet their daily household needs. According to the JUI leaders, residents of the provincial capital are being deprived of basic facilities while the relevant authorities are relying on assurances, promises and excuses instead of resolving public grievances.
They stressed that the provision of electricity and gas was not a favor by any government or institution but a basic right of the people, adding that the government and concerned departments were responsible for ensuring uninterrupted basic services.
The JUI leaders also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, saying incidents of theft, robbery, drug trafficking, traffic problems, encroachments and other crimes had increased in the city.
They claimed that weak administrative control and the lack of effective government writ were encouraging criminal elements. They urged state institutions and the administration to fulfill their responsibilities and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
