“Shehbaz Sharif Even Signed Senate Election Tickets Inside the Courtroom”
There Is No Comparison Between the Jail Conditions of Imran Khan and the Sharif Family, Says Analyst Asadullah Khan
ISLAMABAD: Anchorperson and political analyst Asadullah Khan has rejected comparisons between the jail conditions and facilities provided to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and members of the Sharif family, saying the circumstances in both cases were entirely different.
Speaking during a discussion, Asadullah Khan said that Imran Khan was not even being brought to court these days, while strict restrictions had been imposed preventing any political message or statement from being conveyed from prison.
He said that in the past, when Shehbaz Sharif was brought from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court, the circumstances were completely different.
Asadullah Khan, describing what he said he had personally witnessed inside the courtroom, claimed that when Shehbaz Sharif appeared in court, he would sometimes tell the judge that his lawyer had not arrived and request that the hearing be adjourned.
He claimed that when the judge was about to leave, Shehbaz Sharif would request that the court staff be instructed not to take him back immediately because he wanted to speak with his colleagues.

According to Asadullah Khan, the court would grant the request, after which Shehbaz Sharif would allegedly remain in the courtroom for up to two hours and hold political meetings.
He further claimed that Shehbaz Sharif had even signed party tickets for the Senate elections while sitting inside the same NAB courtroom, saying he had personally witnessed the incident.
Asadullah Khan questioned how, in light of these circumstances, it could be claimed that Imran Khan and the Sharif family had been provided similar environments and facilities in prison.
“There is simply no comparison between the imprisonment of the Nawaz Sharif family and that of Imran Khan,” he said.
He also questioned the argument that a person returning from a meeting with Imran Khan could not convey any political message, pointing out that Imran Khan was currently not even being brought to court.
