Trump Announces Toughest-Ever Economic Action Against Iran

US President Donald Trump has announced what he described as the toughest economic action yet against Iran, calling it an economic war and an unprecedented campaign of isolation against Tehran.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said Iran had been given more opportunities than any other country to reach an agreement, but Tehran had failed to take advantage of them.

The US president claimed that Iran’s navy and air force had suffered severe damage, its military facilities had been destroyed and its economy was in an extremely weak condition.

Trump warned that any country providing economic support to Iran could also face severe economic consequences.

He specifically called for measures to prevent assistance to Iran through oil smuggling, financial transactions, cash transfers, exchange houses, shipping registries and front companies.

Trump described the campaign as an “Economic D-Day” and said the United States would work with its allies to isolate Iran and make the measures against Tehran more effective.

The US president also reiterated his firm position that Iran will never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
