Imran Khan Arrested by Rawalpindi Police Despite Bail in Toshakhana Case

Rawalpindi:Despite being granted bail in the Toshakhana Case 2, former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested by Rawalpindi police in a separate case related to violent protests. The arrest follows a First Information Report (FIR) filed against him at New Town Police Station for charges including arson and property damage during protests earlier this year.

According to a police spokesperson, the charges against Imran Khan are serious, including provisions under anti-terrorism laws. The investigation team, led by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation, is currently interrogating the PTI leader.

Police sources confirmed that Imran Khan would be presented before a court tomorrow for a physical remand.

The case against Imran Khan was registered at New Town Police Station on September 28, 2023, in connection with violence and property destruction during the political unrest following his ouster from power.

Imran Khan had been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court earlier today in the Toshakhana Case, with the court setting a bond of 10 lakh rupees for his release. His lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, had claimed that with this bail, Khan was no longer under arrest in any case, and his release was imminent. However, the new arrest in the New Town case has complicated matters, preventing his immediate freedom.

This development adds another layer of legal complexities for the PTI leader, whose political future remains uncertain as multiple cases continue to unfold against him.
