Journalist Muneeb Farooq Rejects Mehr Bukhari’s Report of Imran Khan’s Possible Transfer to Shifa Hospital

ISLAMABAD: Journalist Muneeb Farooq has rejected a report by fellow journalist Mehr Bukhari regarding former prime minister Imran Khan’s possible transfer to Shifa International Hospital on medical grounds.
Responding to Mehr Bukhari’s post on X, Muneeb Farooq said that the preparations and changes being made at the hospital were, unfortunately, not related to Imran Khan.
He said there was no intention to bring Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital and categorically stated that the report was not correct.

“None of these arrangements and changes are related to Imran Khan, nor does ‘anyone’ intend to bring Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital. This report is not correct,” Muneeb Farooq said. He added, however, that the Supreme Court’s order regarding the matter remains in force.
Earlier, Mehr Bukhari had reported, citing sources, that extensive preparations had been completed at Shifa Hospital for Imran Khan’s medical stay.
According to the report, a large basement area spanning thousands of square feet had been specially prepared for the former prime minister’s medical treatment.
The report further claimed that Imran Khan had already been brought to the hospital the previous night for a medical examination, where he underwent brief medical assessments before being taken back.

According to the sources cited in the report, the specially secured area included two separate medical rooms, a large media room and a spacious waiting area. The facilities were reportedly equipped with modern technology, furniture and surveillance systems.
The report also claimed that significant changes had been made to the hospital’s SOPs, access arrangements, parking and security protocols, while restrictions were reportedly imposed on hospital staff and attendants, including a ban on bringing food from outside.
Mehr Bukhari’s report stated that the hospital had been fully prepared to receive the former prime minister and that special arrangements and security protocols had been put in place.
