Balochistan High Court Suspends ECP Show-Cause Notice Seeking Withdrawal of PkMAP’s Election Symbol

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court has suspended a show-cause notice issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the possible withdrawal of the election symbol of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
The high court heard a writ petition filed by PkMAP challenging the show-cause notice issued by the ECP. The party had argued that the commission initiated proceedings to withdraw its election symbol through the notice issued on July 8, 2026.
During the hearing, the Balochistan High Court issued a notice to the Election Commission and ordered the suspension of the show-cause notice.
The court also restrained the ECP from taking any further action on the basis of the suspended notice.
The petition was pursued on behalf of PkMAP by Central Secretary for Law and Supreme Court Advocate Habibullah Nasir and Barkat Achakzai.
The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as an important step toward protecting the party’s constitutional and legal rights.
