Maryam Nawaz Sets 2029 Target to Make Punjab South Asia’s Most AI-Enabled Province

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a target of transforming Punjab into South Asia’s most artificial intelligence-enabled province by 2029.

She discussed the formal launch of the Punjab AI Vision 2029 during a meeting with Provincial Adviser for Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives Ali Mustafa Dar.

During the meeting, Ali Dar gave Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz a detailed briefing on the performance of the AI Office over the past two months.

The meeting was also briefed on the world’s first AI-enabled Delivery Unit established in Punjab. Officials further presented details of an onboarding programme developed with the support of a high-level team formed to implement the Punjab Artificial Intelligence Agenda and global delivery experts.

Progress on the vision of making Punjab South Asia’s most AI-enabled province was also reviewed during the meeting.

Maryam Nawaz was given a detailed briefing on the six key pillars of AI Vision 2029, while discussions were also held on the first CM AI Stocktake, aimed at reviewing progress under the AI Vision 2029 initiative.

The meeting emphasized the government’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into public-sector delivery and governance and to accelerate Punjab’s transition towards AI-enabled services by 2029.
