Media Thrives on Sensationalism, Says Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb
Islamabad: During the hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court remarked that if the media doesn’t spread sensationalism, how would they sustain their business?
The court was hearing arguments from Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, when the prosecutor from the FIA stated that the media had already speculated that the bail would be granted, even before the court’s decision.
In response, Justice Aurangzeb urged to disregard the media’s influence, saying, “Leave the media out of this, and exempt yourself from their influence. The media often claims one thing, such as saying that someone didn’t come knowingly or became ill knowingly.”
He further commented, “If the media doesn’t create sensationalism, how will their business survive?”
