Supreme Court Orders Re-Polling in PB-45, Rescinds Stay on Ali Madad Jattak’s Victory
Quetta:The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered a re-polling in the PB-45 constituency of Balochistan, effectively ending the temporary stay granted to Ali Madad Jattak, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA). The court’s decision came after a petition filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) candidate Mir Osman Parkani, who had challenged Jattak’s victory.
Previously, the Election Commission had de-notified Ali Madad Jattak’s seat in PB-45, following a legal dispute. However, the Supreme Court had temporarily suspended this decision by granting Jattak a stay. With the court’s latest ruling, the stay has been lifted, and the seat will now be contested again in a fresh round of elections.
The court’s decision marks a significant win for Mir Osman Parkani, who had been seeking to replace Jattak as the rightful MPA for the PB-45 constituency. Following the ruling, Ali Madad Jattak is no longer recognized as the elected representative of the area.
