I Want to Serve People of Sindh and Other Provinces Too, Says Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that she wants to serve not only the people of Punjab but also those of Sindh and other provinces, adding that she deeply feels the difficulties faced by the people of Karachi and Sindh.

She made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of Oxford University Press Pakistan, where matters related to improving the quality of education, teacher training, modern curricula and introducing new teaching facilities in educational institutions were discussed.

The Oxford University Press delegation appreciated the initiatives taken by Maryam Nawaz to improve the standard of education in Punjab and praised the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence project.

The delegation offered full cooperation with the Punjab government in promoting education, which was welcomed by the chief minister. It was also decided to launch a pilot project featuring the Oxford University Press curriculum at the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence.

The delegation said Oxford University Press would provide digital teacher-training programmes based on modern teaching methods, capacity-building initiatives, teaching guides and assistance in other educational matters. It also praised the standard of the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence, describing the quality of education there as exceptionally high.

Maryam Nawaz welcomed the proposed collaboration between Oxford University Press and the Punjab Education Department. She said the government was taking steps to further improve the quality of education and provide modern educational facilities to children across the province.

“By the grace of Allah, the situation is now changing, and people are increasingly seeking admission for their children in government schools,” she said.

The chief minister further said she wanted to serve people beyond Punjab, including those in Sindh and other provinces, and that she genuinely felt the problems faced by the people of Karachi and Sindh.

She also said more sports grounds were being developed for young people in Rahim Yar Khan so they could have greater opportunities to participate in positive and healthy activities.
