Trump Warns Iran of ‘Last Chance’ for Nuclear Deal, Vows to Keep Strait of Hormuz Open
Washington:US President Donald Trump has renewed his warning to Iran, saying ongoing negotiations represent Tehran’s “last chance” to reach an agreement before facing what he described as devastating consequences.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the United States is currently engaged in talks with Iran at Tehran’s request. He added that the diplomatic effort is being supported by **Saudi Arabia**, the **United Arab Emirates**, and particularly **Qatar**, while several other countries have also been involved in facilitating contacts.
Trump warned that if no agreement is reached, it would be Iran’s final opportunity to sign what he called a “good deal.”
“I want to give Iran every possible last chance before any devastating action,” Trump said, expressing hope that Tehran would make what he described as the right decision. He added that failure to reach a deal would leave Iran facing severe consequences.
The US president also addressed the **Strait of Hormuz**, saying he would not allow Iran to charge commercial vessels for transiting the strategic waterway.
“The freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be preserved,” Trump told reporters. “I will not allow Iran to impose any fees on ships passing through. If anyone were to collect fees, it would be us, because we have complete control.”
Trump further said the United States has the capability to impose a blockade if necessary, but insisted that charging transit fees was “out of the question” and would not be allowed.
