U.S. Military Says Strait of Hormuz Remains Open, Rejects Iran’s Closure Claims

The U.S. military has stated that the **Strait of Hormuz** remains open to commercial shipping, dismissing Iran’s claims of a closure as false.

In a statement posted on X, the **U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)** said the Iranian government had once again claimed that the strategic waterway was closed, describing the assertion as untrue. According to CENTCOM, the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial vessel traffic and is not under Iran’s exclusive control.

The U.S. military added that thousands of commercial ships have safely transited the international waterway over the past four months.

Earlier, Iran’s **Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA)** had claimed that it was currently impossible for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz due to what it described as ongoing aggressive actions by the U.S. military in the region. The authority said requests for passage would only be considered once stability and security were restored.

The Iranian statement came after Tehran claimed it had carried out retaliatory attacks on U.S. military bases.
