Trump Warns of “Very Strong” US Attack if More Protesters Are Killed in Iran

Washington/Tehran: US President Donald Trump has issued another warning to Iran, saying the United States could launch a “very strong” attack if more protesters are killed during the ongoing demonstrations in the country.

The protests have now entered their second week, with widespread public anger fueled by soaring inflation, a deepening economic crisis, and the sharp depreciation of the Iranian rial.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump said the United States is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and warned that Washington would respond forcefully if the Iranian government continues to use violence against demonstrators.

The protests began on December 28 following a strike by shopkeepers in Tehran. According to official figures, at least 12 people, including security personnel, have been killed so far.

Analysts say the current wave of protests is among the largest and most intense seen in Iran in recent years, surpassing even the demonstrations that erupted after the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022–2023.
