Balochistan Police Playing Frontline Role in Fight Against Terrorism, Says IG Mohammad Tahir
Quetta: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Tahir said that the Balochistan Police is playing a frontline role alongside other law enforcement agencies in protecting the lives and property of citizens and combating terrorism across the province.
Addressing the 20th Basic Anti-Terrorism Course Passing-Out Parade at the ATF Training School in Quetta, the IGP said the sacrifices made by police martyrs would never be forgotten and reaffirmed the force’s commitment to maintaining national security and public order.
A total of 284 police personnel, including three female constables, completed the course. Congratulating the graduates, Mohammad Tahir said that, for the first time in Balochistan’s history, three district policewomen voluntarily completed the anti-terrorism training alongside their male counterparts, describing them as a source of pride for the nation.
The IGP noted that Pakistan, particularly Balochistan, has faced the challenge of terrorism for decades. He said the ATF Training School has played a vital role in providing professional counterterrorism training to police personnel.
He paid tribute to the officers and personnel of the Balochistan Police who lost their lives while fighting terrorism, saying their sacrifices would always be remembered.
Mohammad Tahir also said that Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has extended full support to the police force and has introduced several important initiatives to improve training standards and enhance the institution’s operational capacity.
He added that before 2013, Balochistan did not have a dedicated counterterrorism training center, whereas today the ATF Training School is making a significant contribution to strengthening the province’s counterterrorism capabilities.
The IGP expressed hope that the newly graduated personnel would perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, and dedication, contributing effectively to public safety and the maintenance of peace and law and order across the province.
