Storms and Torrential Rains Devastate Zhob, Three Killed and 12 Houses Destroyed

Zhob: Torrential rains, strong winds, and a severe storm caused widespread destruction in Killi Wani, a suburban area of Zhob district in Balochistan, leaving three people dead, including a one-year-old child and two women, while several others were injured.

According to local sources, the weather deteriorated suddenly late at night as powerful dust storms were followed by heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. The strong winds blew off rooftops, collapsed walls, and completely destroyed several mud houses in the affected area.

A one-year-old child was killed after being trapped under the rubble when a mud house collapsed. Rescue personnel, assisted by local residents, recovered the child’s body after several hours of search and rescue efforts.

In separate incidents, two women also lost their lives after the roofs and walls of houses collapsed due to the storm. District authorities said the process of identifying the victims is underway.

According to an initial survey conducted by the district administration, at least 12 houses were completely destroyed, while several others sustained partial damage. Household belongings, food supplies, and other essential items were also buried under the debris.

Following the incident, Rescue 1122, the district administration, police, and Levies personnel rushed to the affected area and launched relief and rescue operations. Teams continue to remove debris, rescue the injured, and relocate affected families to safer locations.

The Deputy Commissioner of Zhob directed all relevant departments to accelerate relief efforts and ensure the provision of temporary shelter, food, clean drinking water, and medical assistance to the affected families.

Local elders and public representatives have urged the government to declare Killi Wani a disaster-hit area and announce a special relief package, including emergency tents, food supplies, and financial assistance for rebuilding damaged homes.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that monsoon rains are expected to continue in several districts of Balochistan and has advised residents to take necessary precautions. Relief activities in the affected area remain ongoing.
