Roof Collapse in Lahore Claims Lives of Couple and Daughter; Another Child Miraculously Survives

LAHORE: A tragic roof collapse in Lahore’s Garhi Shahu area claimed the lives of a husband, his wife, and their young daughter, while another child miraculously survived the incident.
The accident occurred near Farooquia Mosque in Railway Colony, where the roof of a house suddenly caved in, trapping four family members beneath the debris. According to Rescue officials, three people, including two females, lost their lives. The deceased were identified as Moeen, his wife Noreen, and their daughter Fatima.
Moeen’s second daughter, Emil, survived the collapse unharmed in what rescuers described as miraculous. Rescue teams immediately launched a search and rescue operation and later confirmed that no other individuals were trapped under the rubble.
Rescue sources said the roof was in a deteriorated condition and collapsed due to its weakened structure. A total of 20 rescue personnel, assisted by six emergency vehicles, participated in the operation.
Preliminary reports suggest that continuous rainfall may have contributed to the collapse of the old and weakened roof, leading to the tragic incident.
Meanwhile, a separate roof collapse was reported on Bedian Road near Ladher Stop in the early hours of the morning, leaving three people injured. The victims were provided first aid and shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
