HDP Says Highways in Balochistan Are Unsafe, Accuses Government of Failing to Restore Peace

QUETTA: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation across Balochistan, alleging that the provincial government has failed to ensure public safety and restore peace.

In a statement, the party criticized what it described as the government’s inaction and lack of effective measures to protect the lives and property of citizens. It said the worsening security situation has forced the business community and transporters to refuse commercial travel to several districts of the province.

The HDP claimed that major highways, including the Quetta–Karachi Highway and routes connecting Balochistan with other provinces, have become highly unsafe and are beyond the effective control of the government and administrative authorities.

The party further alleged that the current provincial administration and what it referred to as the “Form 47 government” are incapable of bringing the situation under control. It claimed that the present assembly lacks both a public mandate and a practical strategy for restoring peace and addressing the province’s security challenges.

The statement argued that those elected through the current assembly would gain official privileges but would be unable to address the public’s concerns due to the absence of a genuine mandate.

The Hazara Democratic Party called on the administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies to take immediate and effective steps to restore law and order, secure national highways, and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property throughout Balochistan.
