Islamabad: A fresh wave of restructuring rumors has emerged within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as sources suggest that Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Naseer may soon be moved from his current role. Reports indicate that the PCB is preparing to transfer Naseer to a new position within the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and is likely to introduce a new role specifically for him.
According to sources, Salman Naseer is expected to be appointed as the Managing Director (MD) or Head of PSL, a significant shift from his current duties. In his place, former Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Sameer Ahmed Syed, is set to be appointed as the new COO of PCB. Syed, who is currently serving at the Prime Minister’s House, is expected to join PCB on deputation in the coming days.
Salman Naseer will continue to report to the new COO, Sameer Ahmed Syed, as well as to the PCB Chairman. There are also discussions about appointing Director of International Cricket, Usman Wahla, as the new PSL Director. However, this potential appointment has raised concerns among PSL franchises, who are reportedly pleased with Salman Naseer’s possible move but are apprehensive about Wahla’s involvement.
PSL franchise owners have expressed support for the decision to bring Naseer into PSL, but the prospect of Wahla’s appointment has left them in a state of confusion.
