Five Killed in Separate Shooting Incident on Quetta-Karachi Highway in Kalat
KALAT:** Five people were found dead after a shooting incident on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway near Khad Kocha in Kalat district, police said.
According to police, local residents informed authorities about the presence of the bodies. Three bodies were recovered from the Sorab area, while two others were found in the Rodingo area of Kalat. Police said all five victims had sustained gunshot wounds.
Initial reports indicate that the victims were travelling in a car from **Zhob to Karachi** when unidentified armed men allegedly opened fire on the vehicle.
According to preliminary information, the assailants had allegedly set up a road blockade on the Quetta-Karachi Highway and signaled the vehicle to stop. However, the driver, reportedly frightened, did not stop and continued driving, after which the armed men allegedly opened fire on the car.
As a result of the firing, a woman was killed at the scene, while a child and a man were injured. The woman’s body and the injured victims were shifted to **Civil Hospital Kalat** for initial medical treatment before the injured were referred to Quetta for further care.
Police said investigations into the incident are underway, while authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.
