Sindh Drug Testing Lab Declares 79 Medicines and Syringes Substandard or Fake
Karachi: The Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has declared 79 samples of allopathic and herbal medicines, as well as syringes, to be substandard or counterfeit following laboratory testing conducted between January and July 13.
According to the laboratory’s latest report, more than 2,000 samples of medicines and medical devices were tested during the period, of which 79 failed to meet approved quality standards. The report also found 30 auto-disable (AD) syringes to be substandard or fake.
The report warned that reusing the same syringe on multiple patients can increase the risk of infections and compromise the effectiveness of medical treatment.
It further recommended the use of quality-certified auto-disable syringes to help prevent the spread of HIV, hepatitis, and other blood-borne diseases.
