Qatar Adjusts School Timings Amid Severe Heatwave Conditions

Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced revised school timings for government schools due to intense heat and changing weather conditions. The new schedule will remain in effect from May 3 to June 3.
Under the updated timetable, all educational stages will begin classes at 7:00 AM. However, dismissal times will vary to protect students from peak afternoon heat. Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM, primary school students at 12:30 PM, while preparatory and secondary students will finish at 12:45 PM.
The ministry clarified that there has been no reduction in class hours, and the adjustment is solely aimed at ensuring student safety while maintaining academic continuity during extreme weather conditions.
Teachers and administrative staff will also follow revised working hours, starting at 7:00 AM and concluding at 1:15 PM.
The decision comes ahead of the second-semester final examinations for the 2025–2026 academic year, which are scheduled to begin on June 4 according to the academic calendar.
Officials stated that the changes are part of precautionary measures to reduce heat-related risks while ensuring uninterrupted educational activities across the country.
