PkNAP Chairman Khushhal Khan Kakar Blames Security Failures for Hanna Urak and Ziarat Attacks

Quetta: Khushhal Khan Kakar has said the recent attacks in Hanna Urak and Ziarat reflect a serious failure by the state and security institutions to protect citizens and law enforcement personnel.
Addressing a protest sit-in outside B.A. Mall in Quetta, Kakar said the killing of four civilians and the reported disappearance of 11 people in Killi Babri, Hanna Urak, along with the attack on police personnel in Kach Mangi, Ziarat, demonstrated shortcomings in maintaining law and order.
He said the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the state’s constitutional responsibility, but claimed that both civilians and police personnel, particularly those deployed in remote areas, lack adequate security, modern equipment, timely reinforcements, and effective operational support.
Kakar also addressed protesters at Khanozai and Ziarat Cross, describing the demonstrations as peaceful and democratic. He expressed solidarity with the protesters and said such demonstrations would continue to highlight governance failures until justice and security were ensured.
He called for the immediate, safe, and dignified recovery of the 11 missing persons from Hanna Urak and all police personnel reported missing after the Ziarat attack. He also urged authorities to bring those responsible for the attacks to justice.
Kakar argued that Balochistan has faced decades of insecurity, terrorism, enforced disappearances, and violence, and said statements of condemnation alone were insufficient to address the situation. He called on the government to fulfill its constitutional obligation to safeguard citizens and establish lasting peace.
Referring to the province’s natural resources, Kakar said the people of Balochistan should have control over their land, mineral wealth, and national rights, adding that his party would continue to pursue these objectives through democratic, political, and constitutional means.
He concluded by endorsing the demands of the Hanna Urak Public Committee, including justice for the victims’ families, the recovery of all missing individuals, legal action against those responsible for terrorist attacks, and stronger efforts by the government and state institutions to restore lasting peace in Balochistan.
