Security Forces Kill Six Suspected Militants in Intelligence-Based Operation Near Dalbandin, ISPR Says

Dalbandin: Pakistan’s security forces have killed six suspected militants linked to the banned Baloch Liberation Army during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Lagap area near Dalbandin, while six to seven others were reportedly injured and escaped, according to the military’s media wing.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence that armed BLA members were present in the area and were allegedly planning a major terrorist attack.

According to the ISPR, security forces immediately cordoned off the area and initiated the operation. During the operation, personnel signaled two motorcycles and a Zamyad pickup truck carrying armed suspects to stop. However, the occupants allegedly opened fire on the security forces, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.

The military said security forces responded effectively, killing six suspected militants during the firefight. It added that six to seven other suspects managed to flee towards nearby mountainous areas despite sustaining injuries.

The ISPR said search and clearance operations are continuing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while security has been tightened at entry and exit points around the area to prevent any suspicious movement.

According to the military, security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and equipment during the operation, including two motorcycles, a Zamyad pickup truck, one RPG launcher, an M4 rifle with UBGL rounds, three submachine guns, one ZRK light machine gun, large quantities of ammunition, RPG rockets, five ammunition belts, a BLA flag, medicines, bandages, and other logistical supplies.

Security officials said the recovered weapons and equipment indicated that the armed group was allegedly preparing for a major terrorist attack, but timely intelligence and the swift response of the security forces foiled the plan.

The ISPR stated that the operation had significantly disrupted the alleged BLA network, its movement, and its operational capabilities in the area.

The military reaffirmed that intelligence-based operations would continue across Balochistan to eliminate terrorism, maintain law and order, and protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that operations against anti-state elements would continue without discrimination.
