JI Balochistan Chief Backs Hanna Urak Sit-in, Calls for Concrete Action Against Terrorism

Quetta: Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, the provincial chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and a member of the Balochistan Assembly, has announced his party’s full support for the ongoing peaceful sit-in by residents of Hanna Urak, describing their demands as constitutional, lawful, and justified.
In a statement, Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch said the people of Hanna Urak were protesting to seek improved law and order and the protection of their lives and property. He said Jamaat-e-Islami stands with every peaceful movement that seeks justice, peace, and the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights.
He expressed concern over the security situation in Balochistan, claiming that militant groups had been able to carry out attacks near sensitive areas of Quetta, including locations close to military installations. He criticized what he described as the government’s reliance on condemnation statements rather than effective measures to combat terrorism.
The JI leader said the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the state’s constitutional responsibility, but alleged that people in Balochistan continue to face insecurity due to terrorism, targeted killings, and violence.
According to Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, the protesters in Hanna Urak are demonstrating not for personal interests but for peace, security, and a safer future for their families. He urged the government to engage with the protesters through dialogue instead of using pressure or force, and to address their concerns by accepting their legitimate demands.
He further said that the current security situation has weakened public confidence in the government’s ability to maintain order and called for practical and result-oriented measures to restore lasting peace across the province.
Reaffirming his party’s support, Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch urged the government to take immediate and effective steps to eliminate terrorism, ensure the safety of citizens, and restore law and order in Balochistan. He said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to raise its voice for the rights, peace, and justice of the people of the province.
